A soulful message for today

Today’s soul food is an idea inspired by Ram Dass that I’ve expanded upon

“Life is like being in the 4th grade. You took birth here because you have certain work to do that involves the suffering you do, the kinds of situations you find yourself in. This is your curriculum. It’s not an error. Where you are now with all your neurosis and your problems; you’re sitting in just the right place. Imagine that.”

Nobody made an error. And all those times you think, “If only...” — No! This is it! Including the ‘if only.’

It’s about getting present and asking yourself deep down: “How is this perfectly designed for my spiritual growth?” It’s developing a spiritual antenna. Instead of running to others, to friends, to podcasts, to find “the answer”. It’s trusting that you know exactly what you need. And this takes a lot of work in our day and age when you are force fed everything to consume, telling you what is “good” and “right”, but what if you knew exactly what you needed. What if everything was happening right now FOR you.

It’s about becoming present and asking yourself, deep down: “How is this perfectly designed for my spiritual growth?” It’s about developing a spiritual antenna. Instead of constantly seeking others, friends, or podcasts for “the answer,” it’s trusting that you already know exactly what you need. And in a world where we are constantly fed ideas about what’s “good” and “right,” it takes work. But what if you knew, right now, exactly what you needed? What if everything happening was unfolding the way it is, for you?

Try saying, “I’m excited to find out why this is good.”

If life was a curriculum, of course you would struggle—it’s part of the learning. None of it would be a mistake. It would be a necessary part of the journey. What if everything happening was meant for you, designed to forge the iron of who you’re becoming?

Then, maybe you’d say “thank you” instead of “why.”

Maybe one day you’ll look back and realize that the very thing you were trying so hard to avoid was actually a blessing, shaping you into exactly who you needed to become.

Two quotes to take you higher

"Ring the bells that still can ring, forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in."

Leonard Cohen

"Where your fear is, there is your task.”

Carl Jung

A meditation for you

Take a long, slow, deep breath in

Where in my life could I have even more trust and faith that everything is perfectly designed for my spiritual growth?

Where could I let go of my grasp on control?

Where could I let go of my need for things to be exactly as I think is best?

Exhale.

Mark your calendar for the next Saturday Soul on Nov 16!

Much love,

Kevin 🙌
